Janet Ormond - Curb Beach Plastic Art
My Curb art is created entirely using plastic collected off the beaches in Southern Africa.
I started curb to help bring awareness to the problem caused by plastic pollution which ends up in our oceans. The plastic is collected during beach walks and then taken home, washed, sorted and used to recreate.
The variety of plastics found are endless, here are some of the items most commonly used in my pieces;
- micro plastics
- ear buds
- lollipops sticks
- bottle caps and seals
- plastic bags
- fishing line
- plastic components
So much unidentifiable, I often wonder where every piece comes from and what it once was.
I hope my art can make you think and make a change in your own life to help this global problem we all contribute to.
in the words of C.S Lewis.... “You cant’ go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending”
